AOL:
in some browsers player reports "File not found"
Please minimise your AOL browser and launch Internet explorer or Netscape independently. Shockwave for Mac Trouble upgrading to the new version of Shockwave (the software that runs the search window): Symptoms are: 1. A message telling you that you need to upgrade! 2. A blank search window. The system needs version 8.5 of Shockwave to function. Many users have found that the installer doesn't complete properly. If you cannot get the installer to work: 1. Delete all shockwave preference files (in the System folder Preferences folder). 2. Delete or move to the desktop the Macromedia folder in the Extensions folder. 3. Try the installer again. NB. You must allow shockwave to connect to the web to fully complete its installation. Note: If you require installations for more than one browser, you must delete the preferences file before it will allow you to install again. Mac Users Slow Downloads: Some Mac users only have experienced slow download speeds, This is because the Shockwave player is eating up all available system resources. Fix: Close the shockwave player before or during downloading, but make sure you hit the save button on older shockwave versions. Internet Explorer on the Mac "keeps crashing browser" This is an IE5.0 and Shockwave problem and happens when stopping audio files from streaming. Please update to IE5.1 Alternately use a different browser [Netscape etc.] "I tried to purchase a sound but nothing happened" Once you click the order button you are directed to our Secure Socket Layer server (SSL) This may take up to 30 seconds, so that sensitive information such as credit card numbers can be passed over the Internet without fear of being intercepted. If you live behind a firewall then your administrator may need to open up the firewall for SSL traffic. "Why can't I hear any sound effects?" Macintosh: Your browser does not have enough memory assigned to it. Shockwave normally requires a minimum of 18 Mb of Ram. Simply quit your browser and "Apple + I" on the browser application and increase its size. Windows: Your sound card may be in use by another application or running low on memory. Quit all other open applications. "Unzipping sound file programs" An UNZIP program allows you to decompress large files. The most common UNZIP program for the Macintosh is Stuffit Expander Or for the PC, WINZIP Email us for other queries you have and we will do our best to help you. |
